Here is a list of volunteer opportunities to help you remember the real reason for the season:

Food Drives

There are several locations holding food drives in Northwest Arkansas this year. With an increase of people around the local area in need of these type of services, food drives are any easy way to spread Christmas spirit. You can donate food at Southern Food Company, Grub’s, and First Security Bank. Life Source and 7 Hills Homeless Center are accepting donations at Bear’s Place in Fayetteville on Wednesdays. You can also donate to any of the following local food pantries: Life Source International Inc., Jane B. Gearhart Full Circle Campus Food Pantry, Northwest Arkansas Food Bank, 7 Hills Homeless Center.

Serve a Meal

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church: Mondays and Wednesdays at noon

Central United Methodist Church: Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11:30 a.m.

7 Hills Homeless Center: Fridays at 11:30 a.m.

Genesis: Thursdays at 6:00 p.m.

Samaritan Community Center: 10:30 a.m.- 12:45 p.m.

Toy’s for Tots

The local Toys for Tots program is administered by Life Source. The program distributes Christmas gifts such as toys to children whose parents cannot afford to by them gifts.

CASA of Northwest Arkansas

You can sponsor a child that will spending the holiday season in foster care. You will be provided with a list of items that the child needs or wants.

Ronald McDonald House

You and your family can prepare a meal for another family in need through the Share-A-Meal-Program. There are also opportunities to host fun projects like cookie decorating or ornament making.

Northwest Arkansas Children’s Shelter

Help a child that has experienced a life with abuse, violence, or neglect by donating items. Some suggestions for donations are: teen clothing, girl’s clothing and shoes, pajamas, boy’s clothing and shoes, paper towels, toothpaste, water bottles, hair brushes.

Sharing and Caring of Benton County

Donate, volunteer, or sponsor a child. Help children in the community by donating Christmas gifts, including both essential items and items of the child’s wish list. Provide school supplies, backpacks, and clothes. Sharing and Caring of Benton County also provides families with a holiday meal.
